X7 Education Estate After-school academy lane, powered by Plant Bot Computing and Silica Lab.

After-school computing academy

Reboot your child's tech future.

Root Reboot helps Year 4 to Year 10 learners build real computing confidence through coding, robotics, AI literacy, digital creativity and supervised access to safe lab environments.

Parent decision guide

A clear route from enquiry to the right cohort.

Root Reboot is for families who want computing to become practical, safe and confidence-building. The first step is a reviewed waiting-list request, not an automatic booking.

Likely a strong fit

For learners ready to build, practise and be stretched.

  • Your child is curious about coding, games, AI, robotics or how technology works.
  • You want a structured route that builds confidence without rushing into unsafe tools.
  • You are happy for placement, lab access and next steps to be reviewed by a human first.
Speak to us first

Some situations need a slower start.

  • Your child needs one-to-one support that an after-school group may not provide.
  • You need urgent safeguarding, medical or emergency advice. This website is not the right route for that.
  • You want guaranteed Silica Lab access immediately. Lab accounts come only after consent and induction.

What Root Reboot Is

A practical computing club with serious foundations.

Root Reboot is the local academy layer of the wider X7 education ecosystem. Pupils learn the "roots" of computing through practical builds, creative challenges and clear teacher guidance.

The public promise is simple: learners should leave more confident, more technically capable and more careful with technology than when they arrived.

Programme

Built for Year 4 to Year 10 progression.

Groups are arranged by age, confidence and readiness. The waiting list helps us place pupils into the right cohort rather than forcing everyone through the same route.

Y4-Y5

Creative foundations

Sequencing, pattern thinking, block coding, digital art, simple robotics, online safety and "how computers follow instructions".

Y6-Y7

Transition builders

Scratch, microcontrollers, media skills, spreadsheets, networks, safe AI habits and the vocabulary needed for secondary computing.

Y8-Y10

Tech lab pathway

Python foundations, web structures, data, systems thinking, AI-assisted project work and controlled access to sandbox environments.

Silica Lab

A safe place to build, test and break things.

Silica Lab is the protected sandbox layer. It gives approved learners a ring-fenced place to experiment with code, systems and digital projects without touching production data or private operational networks.

Access is never automatic from the public website. It comes after parent consent, an acceptable-use agreement, account setup and induction.

  1. 1. Enrolment requestParent or guardian joins the waiting list.
  2. 2. Manual reviewWe confirm suitability, group and availability.
  3. 3. Consent packParent signs consent and acceptable-use rules.
  4. 4. Lab inductionLearner receives supervised access.

For Parents

Fun for learners. Reassuring for families.

The tone is active and gaming-adjacent, but the aim is not screen time for its own sake. Sessions are designed around skill, confidence, safety, language and practical creation.

A place is offered only when the year group, readiness, timetable and support route make sense. That protects the learner, the cohort and the quality of the teaching.

What parents can expect

  • Clear age placement and manual enrolment review.
  • Scholarship-aware access for families who need help.
  • Safe computing and AI literacy built into the programme.
  • Consent-gated Silica Lab accounts only after induction.
  • No public collection of sensitive pupil information.

Pricing and scholarships

Paid places, with support where it matters.

Root Reboot will run as a paid academy programme, but affordability should not be the reason a capable learner never asks. The waiting list includes a private scholarship route for families who cannot afford the full fee. Exact session pricing is confirmed before any place is accepted.

Standard place

For families able to pay the normal cohort fee once timetable and group placement are confirmed.

Fee confirmed before offer

Scholarship-supported place

Reduced-fee or supported places for families who need help. Select scholarship interest only if it would affect access; any follow-up is handled privately.

Support available

Founding cohort

Early applicants help shape the timetable, groups and first Silica Lab onboarding pathway.

Safety

Access is earned, consented and supervised.

Root Reboot is being built with age-appropriate privacy, safeguarding, consent and acceptable-use rules from the start. The first public form is intentionally light: it gathers enough information to respond, not a full child record.

Minimal data first

Waiting-list requests ask for parent contact, age/year group and programme interest. Full consent details come later.

No open lab logins

Silica Lab access is only issued after review, consent, rules and induction.

Human review

Every place is manually checked before timetable, price and next steps are confirmed.

Enrolment

Request a reviewed Root Reboot place.

Complete the short form to start the waiting-list review. It collects the minimum details needed to reply, place your child in the right age band and discuss availability.

Do not include medical, safeguarding or other sensitive details here. Those are collected only if a place moves forward.

What happens after you join

  1. Request received. You get a confirmation email with a request ID.
  2. Human review. We check year group, interest, availability and whether scholarship support was requested.
  3. Fit conversation. If there is a suitable route, we confirm timetable, price, consent steps and any induction needed.
  4. Offer or waiting update. No place, payment or lab account is created until the next step is agreed.
